Our Origin Story

Like many great Canadian tales, our origins begin with a quest for warmth. Warmth in the form of a well-made and well-priced duvet - a simple but life-changing product for our founders Howard and Jixin. What started as a simple mission to bring better sleep to Canadians quickly became a passion, and by 1995, ‘Quilts Etc.’ was selling duvets, quilts, and more across Western BC.

The goal from Day One? Create quality, long-lasting bedding that provides excellent sleep and is accessible for every Canadian.

Growing Across Canada

In the last 30+ years, our family business has grown across the nation, spreading stylish, sustainable sleep along the way. In 2008, we introduced our first eco-friendly textile line, bringing TENCEL™ and Bamboo Cotton fabrics to the Canadian market and setting the stage for a more sustainable future. 

By 2010, we had built an in-house design team dedicated to creating bedding that reflects Canada’s beauty and diversity. In 2023, we became a Certified B Corporation, building on our ethical foundation and transforming our traditional business model through sustainability projects like ReHome, our textile recycling program.

Today, we’re proud to be Canada’s signature bedding brand, with 70+ stores from coast to coast, all focused on delivering people-centred customer service and product knowledge.

In True Canadian Fashion

Every season, our team of in-house designers dreams up new collections right from our Vancouver studio. Their inspo? Often the people and places of Canada. Their canvas? Eco-friendly fabrics crafted from natural materials that promote healthier sleep.

From the meadows of Eastern Quebec to the mountainscapes of the West Coast, the forests to the ocean, the beauty of our country shines through in our collections. We also craft our certified-responsible down duvets and pillows here in Canada, specially designing them to keep Great White North sleepers warm and comfortable all year long.
