Our Story
It all started in 1989, in Vancouver, Canada. Inspiration struck when our founders, Howard and Jixin, came across a simple, yet exceptional product: a well-made, well-priced duvet.
From there the mission was clear: to bring better sleep to all Canadians, with high-quality, affordable bedding. And the rest is history! In 1992, they opened their first two stores as ‘Quilts Etc’ in Clearbrook and Nanaimo, BC.
Over three decades later, QE Home has evolved from a small family business into a Canadian household name. Though we’ve done some growing up, we’ve stayed true to our roots, putting family, comfort, and our communities first. Today, we have over 70 stores across the country, from Vancouver Island to the tip of Newfoundland.

Our Evolution

Howard and Jixin come up with the name 'Quilts Etc' and open their first two stores in Clearbrook and Nanaimo, BC. Though cobbled together with second-hand fixtures and holding little product, Quilts Etc draws a crowd. Our founders are on the right track.

The digital boom is in full swing, and we get our very first website!

The early 90s were a time of rapid growth. Now, the family business spans the nation, with stores in Calgary, Alberta to Mississauga, Ontario.

We bring in our first line of eco-friendly textiles, made of ultra-soft, natural bamboo fibres.

Thinking ahead, we launch version one of our e-commerce site. For the first time ever, our products are available for purchase online!

We begin building out our in-house design team and creating whole new lines of bedding every season.

We rebrand! Quilts Etc becomes QE Home. "QE" as a nod to our past. "Home" to better represent the variety of products we offer and carry us into the future.

We face a year unlike any other. To succeed, we focus on offering new services to our customers with safety in mind, like same day pick up.

As a child, I used to spend time in our stores with my dad. What I remember most was the way we made people feel. The joy when guests walked out of our store with fresh linens, and the gratitude people expressed for the comfort we provided. The way I see it, QE Home doesn't just provide bedding. We provide well-being, delight, and memories for Canadians of all ages and generations.

The Downmark® certification ensures that down and feather products bearing this mark are genuine, high-quality, and finished in Canada according to strict ethical standards.
STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® ensures a textile has been verified in an independent laboratory, and is free from more than 100 substances known to be harmful to human and environmental health.
The GOTS certification ensures organic textiles follow world-recognized environmental and ecological standards throughout production (from harvesting the raw materials to manufacturing, labeling, and more). Fun fact: GOTS certified products are pesticide-free and require lighter water irrigation!
The RDS certification ensures that best practices for animal welfare are followed throughout the entirety of a product’s supply chain, and that a product contains only certified material.
